Second week of celebrating 10 years of TME Education Days!

A lot happened last week. So many workshops, meetings, and speeches! And why did all this happen?

For those who don’t know, our initiative started 10 years ago with just one person who became an ambassador of our project. The number gradually and steadily increased. Ambassadors and tutors have become the backbone of our project - they're the specialists and teachers focused on the educational needs of their local communities, knowing those needs best. Organizing technology workshops on different kinds of electronics, programming, and the basics of engineering projects has become our steady and satisfying reality.

So check in your bags, because we are about to fly across the world! And our first stop will be in East Africa… Ethiopia! To be exact, we are landing in Addis Ababa. The event was focused on youth and childlike wonderful reactions. It was supported by People at Empower Abilities for Youth and Children – an organization focused on unlocking the potential of youth and children. They, similarly to TME Education, provide attention to the educational aspects of child development!

We are staying in East Africa, but our next stop will be Tanzania! With our good friends and educational partners at TaifaTech, we brought a lot of smiles to Iringa. We were pleasantly surprised by the visit from the District Commissioner of Iringa, representatives of the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF), and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam. The event featured an awards ceremony, refreshments, and demonstrations of projects developed by the students themselves. Their creativity and practical skills were truly inspiring, manifesting themselves in projects such as a PLC traffic light controller, home automation system, hydroponic growing system, and clean energy cooking stove. Seeing students turn what they learn about electronics, programming, and technology into real working projects is exactly what our mission of education is about!

Between Ethiopia and Tanzania, we can visit our friends in Kenya at Zetech University Mang’u Campus! The programme of the day brought together an exciting mix of activities, including a keynote speaker, a design thinking session, project exhibition, panel discussion, and after all that engaging part, there was still time for an awards ceremony, an anniversary photo session, finished with refreshments & a special birthday cake. Over the past decade, TME Education in Kenya has been creating opportunities to learn, innovate, share, and build meaningful connections in many different corners of the country.

We can also see that Nigeria and Zambia had a great celebration planned for this special time. Awesome job by all our ambassadors and tutors; our Nigerian Ambassadors made this event happen and have been developing the education process in their country competently over the years. And in Zambia, at Cavendish Innovation Hub in Lusaka, there were a lot of things happening, including presentations from students of Cavendish University Zambia, who showcased the projects they have been working on. Both countries are really special for us, and we are so happy that a lot of people got to know more about our initiative.

Our last stops for this trip are Benin and Liberia – places that were filled with communication: speeches, engaging panels, and discussions amongst peers. We are so happy that it was so successful that rooms were filled with people and their ideas.

This week was amazing; we just can't get enough of our ambassadors and tutors and their hard work across Africa and India. It is something that will inspire us for a long time.

Stay tuned for our final week of celebrations!
