Zambia Hosts National Robotics Challenge, Sending Young Innovators to Geneva

In March 2026, TME Education Zambia, led by Ambassador Obrey Muchena, delivered one of its most significant milestones yet with the successful hosting of the AI for Good Robotics Youth Challenge National Event at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre. The event engaged over 130 students, alongside educators, innovators, and national stakeholders, and was officially opened by the Minister of Technology, underscoring the growing national importance of youth innovation and robotics education.

Throughout the month, students designed, built, tested, and refined robots at Makerspace Zambia, while additional electronics and Arduino workshops strengthened practical skills at the University of Zambia and during Arduino Day activities. The competition concluded with David Kaunda National STEM School winning the junior category and Plastal Bot Builders taking the senior title, with top teams earning the opportunity to represent Zambia at the global finals in Geneva.

The achievement reflects Zambia’s growing momentum in robotics, artificial intelligence, and practical STEM education.
